  19. SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., October 22, 1990 -- Banyan Systems of
  20. Westboro, Mass., and cc:Mail of Mountain View, Calif., today
  21. jointly announced a new VINESR network-specific version of the
  22. popular cc:MailR E-mail package -- cc:Mail for VINES. Compatible
  23. with the current release of cc:Mail, this is the first version of
  24. cc:Mail to be integrated closely with the directory and mail
  25. transport services of a network operating system.

  27. cc:Mail for VINES tightly integrates the respective product
  28. architectures of the two companies around a common StreetTalkR
  29. global directory database, which eliminates the need for network
  30. administrators to set up and manage independent directories for E-
  31. mail and network directory services. This saves considerable time
  32. and effort, while enabling end users to gain the benefits of full
  33. cc:Mail functionality in the VINES environment.
